Artist Bio :

Anna Mary Billany (b. 2001, Washington, Tyne and Wear) is a visual artist, technician and facilitator based in PINK, Stockport.

Anna works in the fields of zines, bookbinding, print and multi-media to explore themes of cyberfeminism, online obsession and growing up isolated in the industrial north.

Currently, Anna is focused on a personal research project called ‘home lonely’ - an exploration of new town architecture relevant to their upbringing surrounded by flat, post-war architecture through a cyberfeminist lens and the experience of masking as a doppleganger personality. This project will lead to a series of artist books, zines and installations. Anna aims to celebrate their heritage and challenge dominant narratives surrounding class, disability and gender in the art world.

They studied at Sunderland University (Foundation in Art and Design) and Manchester School of Art (BA Hons Illustration with Animation).

In addition to their personal practice, Anna co-directs Caterpillar Press, a queer-owned and non-for-profit worker cooperative which focuses on shared print facilities and mutual aid; providing accessible bookbinding and print services and collaboration.
